Going Out with a BOOM!

Designers from across the state came out this weekend to celebrate the Carolina's most creative design at AIGA Charlotte's BOOM! Gala and Exhibition. The BOOM! competition had over 440 entries of which our judges selected 96 amazing winners. All winning work was displayed at the Gala for attendees to view as they mixed and mingled with our cross-Carolinas crowd. Attendees consistently remarked on the incredibly high caliber of work that was displayed -- North Carolina we should be proud!

The Gala's opening reception was followed by a video presentation of the competition's awards. AIGA Charlotte Board member, Trent Edwards cleverly combined the awards presentation with kinetic type interpretations of audio quotes from Debbie Millman's radio show Design Matters. Following the video, fellow Board member, Nikki Mueller announced BOOM's top awards:

Once the awards were handed out we snuck in a tribute to our “BOOM King” Shane Sellers, AIGA Charlotte’s BOOM Director, for his outstanding work and incredible dedication that made BOOM such a success. You can view Shane’s tribute online... it’s sure to make you smile!

The evening wrapped up with dessert as winners claimed their awards and attendees scooped up their copy of BOOM’s Gala Exhibition book.

A big, big thank you goes out to all of our Board members, volunteers and partners and to our friends at AIGA Raleigh for making BOOM!’s competition and Gala such a shining success for our Chapter and our community. Congratulations!
