What’s one professional goal you have for the future?
My short-term goal is to find a job with a local design studio. I’m really looking forward to being in a creative environment with other designers that I can learn from. I think every designer wants to open their own studio, that’s my long-term goal.
What’s your proudest accomplishment?
Graduating college was probably my proudest accomplishment thus far. I think most art students would agree that college is hard work, full of late nights, and empty pockets but it was well worth the effort. Even though I complained about having to take extra studio classes (Figure Drawing? Seriously?), I really miss being exposed to different types of art that don’t involve the use of a computer.
What is the best purchase you’ve ever made?
I bought my first laptop in late October of last year; it’s a used Toshiba Portegé Tablet. I love being able to sketch on it and take handwritten notes. It’s definitely come in handy more than once, and it’s nice to get out of the house every once in a while and work outside or at a quiet coffee shop. Sometimes a different location is just what I need to get inspired.
If you could be any super hero (existing or new), who would you be and why?
Probably Rogue from the X-Men. She has super strength, she can fly and her ability to absorb other mutants’ powers would be really handy. Plus I’d get to wear some stylish long gloves all the time!
What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?
I’ve always enjoyed doing hair. I’ve never had any formal training, I’ve just learned by trial and error (thanks to all my friends for letting me experiment on their hair). I also think it’d be fun to be a cake decorator, like those really pretty cakes that they use fondant on. Just seems like a lot of fun and I absolutely love to bake.
